Researched personas
Build a persona from live segment research and understand its price, plan limits, and failure recovery.
A Researched persona adds current segment research to the role and target you choose. Use it when the segment's tools, market conditions, attention, or switching costs matter to the message you are testing.
What research adds
A finished Researched persona has a Researched badge and a Segment profile. The profile shows what the build found across Current tools, Market, Attention, and Switching cost, with explanations behind the information controls.
Research can leave part of the profile unknown. Unknown means the build did not establish that point; it is not a negative finding.
What it needs and what it costs
A Standard persona costs 5 credits, a Researched persona costs 500 credits, and a custom role costs 1,000 credits.
Plus is the lowest plan that includes researched personas. Plus has one saved Researched persona slot per workspace, shared with custom-role personas. Pro has no saved-slot cap, although workspace safety limits still apply. Free and Lite show the researched-persona plan prompt instead of starting a build.
The credit balance and plan both need to cover the build. A large balance does not add researched personas to a plan that does not include them.
Starting one
Choose the role and any company details or known circumstances, then choose Continue to research. Review the research scope, your selected audience, and the labelled example result. No credits are used on this page. Choose Start research to launch the build, or go back to edit the setup. The direct Create persona action on setup creates a Standard persona instead.
For a catalog role, the app estimates 10–20 minutes and runs the build in the background. This is an estimate rather than a completion guarantee.
While it runs
The build page shows which research work is active and completed. Steps may finish in a different order, so a later row can complete while an earlier one is still working.
You can leave the page. The persona appears in the library when the build succeeds, and the build URL remains available. A workspace can run only one persona research build at a time.
When it finishes
The finished page shows the persona and its Segment profile. Choose View in Personas to open it in the library.
If you started from a document, the return action takes the persona back to the place you started: Conversion Forecast or Persona Reaction. A custom role is also added to the reusable role catalog after a successful build.
Limits and refusals
A workspace can start up to ten persona research builds in a rolling 24-hour period. It can have only one active build at a time.
On Plus, the single saved slot is checked before research starts, and an active build also occupies it. If the slot is already in use, no build starts and no credits are charged. Use the saved Researched persona already in the workspace, delete it to free the slot, or move to Pro for more saved personas.
A start can also be refused when the plan no longer includes research or when research is temporarily unavailable. Changing the persona details will not resolve those two conditions; check Billing for the plan or try again later for availability.
When a build fails
A failed build does not save a persona or charge its reserved credits. Choose Try again to return to the compose step, then start a new build when the workspace has no other active research and the rolling limit allows it.
If a build reports no progress for twelve minutes, it can time out as stale and ask you to start a new one. Before that point, a step can remain active without new detail while it is still working.
If another build fills the Plus slot before this one finishes, the run ends without a charge. Use the persona that filled the slot or move the workspace to Pro before starting another researched build.
