What a persona is

You have a draft and you want to know how a particular buyer would take it. A persona is that buyer: a reader you build once and point at every draft afterwards. The library page says as much under its own heading — The ICP readers your company simulates against — reused across every draft.

A persona models a position someone holds, not a named individual. It carries a role, a scenario, the target you narrowed it to, and a short description of how that person reads incoming messages. Nothing in it is a real prospect's record.

Where they live

Personas in the left sidebar opens the library. On app.unpitch.ai the same screen sits at /personas; inside the app shell the path reads /app/personas. Both are the same page.

Personas belong to a workspace rather than to you — the page's own sub-heading calls them the readers your company simulates against — so switching workspaces shows a different library.

Reading a row

Each row carries an avatar and then, in order:

• the role and its scenario, written as Role · Scenario
• a sub-line of the facets that narrowed it — job function, company size, industry — or the company line when you set no facets
• a Researched badge, on personas built by a research run and on nothing else
• Updated followed by a relative time, such as "Updated 2d ago".

Press a row and the detail panel opens on the right. That panel is where a persona actually explains itself, and it has its own page.

Finding one

Search personas matches the role, the scenario and the company line. It does not read the persona's description, so searching for a phrase you remember from the detail panel will find nothing.

Next to the search box sits an All chip and one chip per job function your personas actually use. A function nobody's persona belongs to gets no chip at all. Your personas shows the count matching whatever search and chip are active, and scrolling loads more until a quiet closing line names the total, in the form "All 14 personas".

Two things you may hit while browsing: "No personas match those filters." means the search or the chip matched nothing, and "Couldn't load more. Retry" appears when fetching the next page fails — the sentence itself is the button.

The two kinds

Every persona is one of two things.

A Standard persona is built in seconds from the role you picked plus the target and signals you set. It carries no badge and is available on every plan.

A Researched persona is built from a few minutes of live research into your segment. It carries the Researched badge, an evidence receipt naming what was found and where, and a grid showing where the segment sits. It needs a Plus or Pro plan. See Researched personas.

How a persona gets used

Open a document and open Simulation in the right panel. You choose a reader first: one of Your personas, or Go with a new persona, which the app describes as "Pick a role and tune it in a few clicks — lives with this draft." Then press Simulate. The panel reports the current phase while the reader receives the complete draft privately, and the structured reaction appears only when that read is finished.

A reader you build inside a draft stays with that draft. Press Save to my personas to promote it into the library, and the button changes to Saved to your personas.

A Quality Check does not use a persona. It reads the draft on its own, under the heading Is this ready to send?. Personas are what Simulation needs.

Finished simulations flow back the other way. Open the persona in the library and the What they did with it section holds every draft it has read, the lines it reacted to and where it stopped.

There is no way to edit, rename, re-tune or delete a saved persona. Two lines in the product suggest otherwise — "Tune signals after creation" on the empty library and "Personas · editable after creation" on the recommendations card — but no such screen exists. Treat the picks you make while creating a persona as final; to test a different slice of the same role, create a second persona.

If the page will not load

A failure on the library itself shows "Personas couldn’t be loaded" with "Your personas are still safe. Try loading this page again." and a Try again button. Nothing has been lost — the page failed to render, the personas are untouched.
