Working with a finding
Open a Quality Check finding, decide whether it applies, and use its guidance without losing your own judgement.
A finding row tells you what was flagged. Its card explains why and gives you a practical test for the revision.
Open the finding
Click a finding in the panel or its highlighted words in the draft. If the check could not place the finding on one exact passage, the card opens beside the panel row instead.
Closing the card does not accept or reject anything. Press Escape, use the close button, click elsewhere, or start typing.
Read the card
Current Quality Check findings can include:
- Reason explains why the wording may hurt the message.
- Revision requirements lists the conditions your edit should satisfy.
- This changes if names a situation in which the finding may not apply.
Older saved results can use an earlier card layout because unpitch does not invent details that were never stored.
Lines worth keeping use the same kind of card, but tell you what to preserve. Persona Reaction findings are different: they explain a reader's reaction and may include a Reader thought, but they do not give revision requirements.
Make the change yourself
There is no apply or insert action on a finding. Edit the draft in your own words, using the revision requirements as a check on the result.
Typing closes the open card so it does not cover the line you are changing. If a Persona Reaction is currently reading the document, wait for it to finish before editing.
Set aside a finding that does not apply
Choose Not a problem when the finding is wrong for your situation. The row becomes muted and its highlight disappears, but the verdict and counts stay the same because the finding still belongs to that run.
Choose Undo on the card to restore it. This judgement belongs to you and to this run. A colleague can make a different judgement, and a new run starts with no findings set aside.
If unpitch cannot save the choice, the row returns to its previous state and asks you to try again.
