Following a run in progress
Follow a Simulation while it runs, understand each stage of the panel, and know what happens if you leave the page.
You pressed Simulate and the panel changed. Here is what you are looking at, what you can do while it runs, and what to do if it ends in something other than a reaction.
The stages of a run
The panel carries its own name-plate, PERSONA REACTION, in the top left. Underneath, one phase card stays in place for the whole run:
- Preparing context freezes the selected reader and the exact draft.
- Reading the draft takes in the full draft before judging it.
- Interpreting reaction turns the complete read into structured evidence.
The current row is marked Now, completed rows become Done, and the remaining rows stay Next. A queued job adds QUEUED to the name-plate and says Safe to leave — this reaction continues in the background.
The heading moves from Getting the reader ready to Reaction in progress and finally Finalizing the reaction. The panel does not reveal interim prose, a partial score or a provisional verdict.
Throughout, the footer keeps the same promise: You’ll see the complete, structured reaction after the full draft has been read and interpreted. Nothing in the phase view is a result.
Your draft is locked while it reads
From the moment you press Simulate until the reaction lands, the document canvas does not accept edits. The text stays readable, but you cannot type into it. There is no moving step outline or scanning bar on the draft; the phase card is the one place that shows progress.
If you switch to the Quality Check tab during a run, a banner says so directly: Simulation is still reading this draft. Editing is paused until it finishes. The middle phrase follows the stage, so it also appears as preparing the read or analysing the reaction. The editor itself gives no message, so this banner is where the explanation lives.
Leaving the page
The run does not depend on you watching it. When it starts, its id is written into the address bar as ?run=, so reloading the tab or reopening that URL picks the same run up wherever it has got to. The link only works for people who can already open the document.
There is no way to cancel a Simulation. Leaving the panel, closing the tab or pressing Run another reader stops you watching it. The run itself carries on and the 10 credits stay spent.
When a run ends in something else
Four cards can appear instead of a reaction. Two of them can start a fresh 10-credit run and say so on the card; the other two only take you back or re-fetch, and cost nothing.
That simulation didn’t finish. The run failed. The card says "The previous 10-credit hold was released. Trying again starts a new Simulation for 10 credits." You are not charged for a run that did not finish, and Try again is a fresh 10-credit run rather than a resumption. After a page reload the app can no longer re-admit the same frozen reader, so the action becomes Back to readers and you pick the reader again from the chooser.
You will only meet that card if you started the run in this session or opened it by its link. A failed run discovered on an ordinary visit shows nothing at all: the panel returns to the reader chooser, so an old failure never walls off the document.
Lost track of that simulation. The run cannot be reached any more. "The run may have been removed, or your session changed. Start a new one." The only action is Back to readers.
Simulation complete, with "Couldn’t load your reader’s reactions just now." The run did finish and the result exists, but it did not arrive in the browser. Try again here only re-fetches it and costs nothing.
Couldn’t confirm the simulation started. The request went out and its answer was lost, so the app cannot tell whether a run exists. The card states the rule for avoiding a double charge: try again with the draft and reader unchanged and it reconnects to the run that was already admitted; change either one and it starts a new run for 10 credits.
