AI credits
Read your credit balance, understand the lines under it, and know when credits arrive, expire, or cannot be spent.
Credits are what your organisation spends on work that is not already included in your plan. Before you start something expensive, the balance tells you whether you can afford it.
Where the balance is shown
Two places show the same number.
The account button at the bottom of the sidebar opens a menu with a balance card headed AI credits with the spendable figure and your plan name. On Free it also carries an Upgrade chip that links to Billing. When a job is running, an In use row appears.
The Billing tab has the fuller card, also headed AI credits, with the figure and the caption Available to spend.
What credits are spent on
A Persona Simulation costs 10 credits, every time you run one. A Quality Check costs 2 credits, but only once your included allowance for the month is used up — until then a check costs nothing at all and never touches this balance. See Included work and credits for how to tell which case you are in before you press Run.
The lines under the balance
Three optional lines can appear, and each is hidden when it does not apply.
N credits held by work in progressmeans a run currently in flight has reserved that many. They are not gone; they are unavailable until the run settles. The account dropdown shows the same figure on its In use row.N credits expiring <date>is the next block due to leave your balance.N credits arriving <date>is your next monthly allocation. If that date has already passed and the allocation has not landed yet, it readsN credits arriving nowinstead.
When credits refresh
Every plan grants credits once a month, and unused credits do not accumulate forever.
Free grants 30 credits a month and banks nothing you do not spend.
Paid plans keep the current month's allocation plus the two before it. That is what the pricing page means by Two-month rollover, and it caps the balance at 900 on Lite, 4,500 on Plus and 27,000 on Pro. Anything older than that horizon falls off, and that is what the expiring line is warning you about.
An annual subscription funds twelve monthly allocations instead of delivering a year at once, so an annual account still sees an arriving line every month.
Your first month on Free is doubled
A new organisation gets a one-time welcome grant of 30 credits beside its first allocation, so the first month holds 60. An organisation collects it once and never again, and an account that arrives already paying does not get one.
The grant expires with that first month, along with the allocation beside it.
When the balance cannot be spent
If the caption under the figure reads On hold while we sort out a question on this account, the credits exist but nothing will spend them until the question is resolved. The account dropdown swaps Available for On hold. The number stays visible, so a held balance is never mistaken for an empty one. The underlying reason is not shown.
In a document, a Simulation that cannot start for a billing reason refuses with a titled panel rather than a silent failure: Not enough credits, Billing is updating, Simulation is paused or Balance needs attention. The insufficient-credit one reads This simulation needs 10 credits. Open Billing to review the balance or ask your organization owner for help. Each panel offers Open billing in new tab, so your draft stays where it is.
When the card shows no number
Two states print no figure at all, and neither one means zero.
No credits have been allocated to this organisation yet.— the organisation has no credit account, and retrying will not make one. On a new account this usually means the owner has not confirmed their email address. Confirming it is what allocates the credits. We could not load your balance just now. Nothing has changed on your account.— the read failed. A Try again button sits under it and reads Checking… while it refreshes. The account dropdown saysBalance unavailable — refresh to try again.
A blank balance card is not a zero balance. Neither of these states ever prints 0, precisely so a funded account is never told its credits are gone.
Credits belong to the organisation
The balance is the organisation's, not yours personally, and it follows whichever organisation is active in the workspace switcher. If you switch workspaces in another tab, the Billing screen goes stale and the next action is refused and the page refreshed rather than charged to the wrong organisation.
Deleting the organisation or your profile forfeits any unused credits. The delete confirmations say so: Remaining unused AI credits are permanently forfeited, not refunded or restored. and Any unused AI credits will be forfeited. There is no refund and no way to restore them afterwards.
