unpitchdocs

Setting up your workspace

Hand unpitch your website, watch the included business research run, and know how to stop or skip it.

The first time you sign in, the app is not open to you yet. Every link into it sends you back to one screen headed Let’s make this yours, and it asks for one thing: where to look.

Filling in Quick Setup

Type your company address into BUSINESS WEBSITE. With or without https:// both work; the placeholder shows the shape it expects.

Optionally answer WHAT BEST DESCRIBES YOU? · OPTIONAL by picking one of Founder, CEO, SDR, Consultant, Recruiter, Marketer or Other. Picking Other reveals a Describe your role box, and leaving that box empty is the one way this question can stop you, with the error Tell us your role. Skipping the question entirely holds nothing up.

Press Build my workspace. The button reads Building… while the run is accepted, then the progress screen opens.

Addresses that are refused

A plain company address is what this field wants. Anything with a port, a username and password in it, a raw IP address, a scheme other than http or https, or a hostname with no dot in it is refused with Enter a public company website. Text that is not an address at all gets Enter a valid website.

Query strings and #fragments are stripped from whatever you paste. A path is not: submitting example.com/product researches that site starting from that page.

What the research actually reads

Under the form is the boundary the product holds itself to: Public pages only · Every source will be visible in your Knowledge Base. There is no sign-in, no crawl of your whole site, and no private data. A handful of public pages are read, and every claim that comes out of it keeps a quoted excerpt from the page it came from.

The progress screen runs three stages and estimates ~1 min:

  1. Finding the pages that matter
  2. Organizing business context, separating sourced details from inferences
  3. Matching relevant buyer personas

It is looking for offers, audience, positioning, proof, and voice. Once it identifies the company, the pill turns to COMPANY IDENTIFIED and the subtitle may add that your workspace will be named after the company it found. That rename happens on success, so if your workspace name changes, this is why.

You do not have to watch it

After about twenty seconds a Continue into app button appears and you can walk away. Leaving does not cancel anything: the scan finishes on its own and the Knowledge Base shows its progress where you are. Closing the tab is the same.

If it drags on you will see This is taking longer than it should. The research may not finish. alongside Refresh status. That notice, and We couldn’t refresh this research status., are about the screen's connection, not proof that the work died.

Stopping a scan on the wrong site

Press Wrong site? Stop research, available from the first second, then confirm with Stop research in the dialog. Stopping is a request rather than an instant kill: the scan finishes the page it is already reading and then stops without saving anything, so the stage spinners keep moving for a moment on purpose. If it crosses the finish line first you get This research already ended, so there was nothing left to stop. and the result, including the workspace rename, is kept.

Starting without a website

I don’t have a website completes setup on the spot and drops you into the Knowledge Base to build by hand. It does not spend your research. As the screen says, business research stays available for when your site is live, and you can start it later from the Knowledge Base itself.

Business research is included with your account and costs no credits, but the number of runs is limited: one first attempt plus one replacement after a failure. A completed run ends the allowance even if you dislike the result. One stopped run is forgiven, and the stopped screen only promises Your included research is still unused when that is actually true. When no retry is left, Change website and Try again are withdrawn rather than greyed out, so a failure screen offering only Continue to Knowledge Base means there is no hidden retry.
