Finding your way around

The app is one frame with two parts: a dark sidebar down the left, and whatever you are working on in a panel beside it. The sidebar is the same on every screen, so once you know its bands you know where everything lives. There is no search box and no command palette here, so the sidebar is how you move around.

The top of the sidebar

The wordmark at the very top is a link back to the Playground. Beneath it sits your workspace name. Pressing it opens the workspace dropdown, headed Workspace, which lists every workspace you can reach and ends with Workspace settings. Most accounts have exactly one workspace and nothing to switch to, so that single row is deliberately greyed out rather than clickable.

The three destinations

• Playground is where you write documents and run checks and simulations on them.
• Personas holds the buyers you test your writing against.
• Knowledge Base holds what unpitch knows about your business. It is the only row that can carry a small count pill, which a screen reader announces as, for example, "Knowledge Base, 2 items to review".

Playground stays lit only on the Playground's own screens. Open a document or a project and it goes dark while that document's or project's own row lights up instead. Nothing is broken when that happens.

Projects and Recents

Under the destinations, Projects lists your projects. Hovering the heading reveals a small New project button, and each project row has a chevron that collapses or expands it. Projects start expanded on every page load.

The tree lists only documents that have been filed into a project. A standalone document never appears there, which is the usual reason a document seems to be missing.

Recents below it lists the five documents you touched most recently, whichever project they are in or are not in. When there are none, the whole section is absent rather than empty.

Hovering any project or document row reveals its actions menu on the right.

Two markers show up on document rows. A slowly pulsing dot in place of the document's type icon means a Quality Check or a Simulation is running on it; the dot does not say which, and one document can have both going at once, so open the document to see. The dot refreshes about every ten seconds while the tab is visible and stops while the tab is hidden, then catches up as soon as you come back. A small READY chip after a title means the document's current text is exactly the text you marked as ready to send; editing the document clears the chip by itself.

Above the account button you may also see the Getting started card, which tracks your first three steps in the product.

The account menu

Your name and avatar sit at the bottom of the sidebar. Pressing them opens the account menu, which starts with a card headed AI credits.

• Available with a figure means you can spend it. A second line, In use, appears only while a run is holding some credits.
• On hold replaces Available when the balance exists but cannot currently be spent. The figure is still shown, and runs will be refused until the hold clears.
• No credits allocated yet and Balance unavailable — refresh to try again appear in place of a figure. Neither of them means a balance of zero, and they mean different things.
• The line underneath names your plan, for example Free plan. It reflects what you may use right now rather than what you bought, so a lapsed subscription reads Free plan here. An Upgrade chip appears on the card only on the Free plan.

Below the card the menu holds Getting started, which brings the checklist card back if you dismissed it, then Help & docs, Personal settings, Billing & invoices, Privacy, Terms and Sign out. Getting started appears only while first run is still going; Help & docs is always there, and it opens the documentation you are reading now. Help & docs, Privacy and Terms all open in a new tab, so an open document is never torn down mid-edit.

Narrow windows and the right panel

Below roughly 1360 pixels of window width the sidebar shrinks to a narrow column of icons. Nothing is removed: an Expand navigation button appears, and its popover carries the workspace switcher, the three destinations with their labels, Projects, Recents and Getting started. The popover closes itself whenever you navigate. On a touch device the icon tooltips never open, so that button is the only way to read the destination names.

Document, persona and Knowledge Base screens have a panel on the right. Press ⌘J from anywhere on the page, or the toggle in the header, to open and close it. Its state and width are remembered per browser, so it can appear already open on a screen you have never visited. Some screens let you drag the panel's left edge to resize it and some do not.
